Introduction

ILS is an employment law consulting firm. We guide employers on all aspects of industrial relations via a team of talented, well-trained and dedicated professionals.

ILS acknowledges the importance of treating the personal information clients, suppliers and our employees with the utmost care and confidentiality.  This policy outlines how we deal with personal information so as to ensure compliance with our responsibilities under the Protection of Personal Information Act, Act No 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

The Information We Collect

We collect and process personal information of clients and suppliers including names of personnel, contact details, banking details, VAT registration details, personnel service records, training records,  incident witness reports, internal company communications, legal records and correspondence and related financial information.

Website usage information may be collected using “cookies”.  This allows us to collect standard internet visitor usage information and does not identify any individual.

How We Use the Personal Information

We collect and process personal information of clients and suppliers in order to deliver our professional consulting products and services, manage our business records and comply with legal requirements.

We will use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and agreed with you.

Disclosure of information

We may disclose your personal information to our service providers who are involved in the delivery of professional services to you.  Such service providers are duty bound to comply with the privacy requirements as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act.

We may also disclose your information where we are legally obliged or entitled to do so, or where it is necessary to protect our rights.

Information Security & Storage Duration

We maintain appropriate physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, storage and disclosure of personally identifiable information.  We will, on an on-going basis, continue to review our security controls and related processes to ensure that your personal information remains secure

We retain your personal data only for the period necessary for the purposes set out in this policy or in accordance with the provisions of any applicable legislation.

Your Rights: Access To Information / Correction of Personal Information

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you or to object to the processing of personal information held about you.  You also have the right to ask us to update, correct or delete your personal information.  To do so, please contact us at the numbers/addresses listed below and specify what information you would like.

We will require you to attach a copy of your ID document to your request.  ILS will take all reasonable steps to confirm your identity before providing details of or making changes to your personal information.
